20 Hilarious Prank Calls

Prank calls have always been one of the best ways to pwn someone. Long before pwn was even a word, people were been getting woken up in the middle of the night to be asked if their refrigerator was running or whether they have Prince Albert in the can. Everyone knows these old standbys, but fortunately, prank calls have some a long way since then! These days, prank calls are being used to pwn all kinds of annoying people, from telemarketers to Nigerian e-mail scammers to television hosts. Here are 20 of our favorite prank calls.

#1 - This is possible the best prank call on the web, no doubt serving as a cautionary tale to telemarketers around the country. While the telemarketer is gearing up to launch into his sales pitch, the man on the other end of the phone has a much different plan in store, posing as a police detective and telling the telemarketer that he has just called a murder scene. When the salesman tries getting off the phone, the "detective" tells him he'd better stay on the phone - unless he wants to be charged with obstruction of justice! With over 8 million views on YouTube, there's little doubt that this one takes the cake!

#2 - This hilarious collection of prank calls actually made onto a live, televised panel discussion about consumer debt. Some of the funniest calls were people asking the broadcasters when they lost their virginity or inquiring as to how the consumer debt crunch impacted the decision to get penile implants.

#3 - Here we see a similar swarm of prank calls on a public access show debating whether or not New Yorkers should be allowed to carry handguns. As the YouTube description notes, it's amazing that the show's host can keep his composure and a straight face when caller after caller asks him irrelevant questions or blasts him with profanity!

#4 - Some of the most annoying e-mail spam comes from Nigerian scammers promising to let you share in a huge fortune if you give them your bank account number (not to mention their rather incomprehensible grammar). But while most of us just sigh and delete those e-mails, this guy fought back! This prank call features a witty British man who actually called the Nigerian scammer, pressing him with silly objections like "In London, you can't even buy a potato with the amount of money you're offering me." As the call goes on you can can actually hear the stress and annoyance in the scammer's voice, which is exactly what the caller was going for!

#5 - This gender-confused male called up American Idol's staff to complain about why someone they voted for didn't win. When the American Idol staffer countered all the caller's objections, the caller quickly changed his tune and started demanding "American Idol freebies" like pens, posters, and even free tickets to next season's shows! The call didn't come to an end until the caller started asking to speak to Simon, at which point the staffer grew tired of wasting his time.

#6 - The Presidential campaign trail can become a pretty joyless place when you're locked into battle with several other candidates. Luckily, one of Mitt Romney's campaign staffers took the time to offer a little "comic relief" to the former Massachussets governor. During one of Romney's campaign stops, the staffer called his cell phone, using a soundboard of "Terminator" clips pretending to be California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

#7 - Some of the best prank calls target take-out restaurants, such as this one to a Chinese restaurant. But this one includes a special twist: they actually get two Chinese restaurants on the phone with each other, causing each place to think they're making a different order and causing all kinds of confusion for everyone involved. By the end of the call both restaurants are hopping mad and still not sure what's going on; exactly what the prank caller hoped for!

#8 - Fans of Star Wars will love this prank call, featuring a Darth Vader soundboard used in a hilarious prank call to Microsoft's tech support staff! We're not sure why the support rep didn't catch such obvious Star Wars clips as "I am your father!" and "your lack of faith disturbs me", but it's certainly funny to listen to!

#9 - It doesn't get much meaner than the A-Team's "Mr. T." for sheer intimidation, as this prank call proves once and for all. Listen and laugh as the confused lady from the tow truck company gets bombarded with gruff, bellowing Mr. T soundbites like "Hey man, you better fix my van!" and "You wanna stay alive you better keep your mouth shut!" The more she pleads with him to stop yelling, the more angry and belligerent he gets. Classic!

#10 - Credit card companies are some of the most annoying, tedious people to talk with on the phone. But with a little wit and imagination, you can turn those same feelings of irritation back on them! That's what this prank call does, using a Dr. Phil soundboard to hit the Capital One rep with retorts like "I don't believe that's true at all!" and "Does that seem like the logical thing to do?" Amazingly, the rep stays on the phone and continues trying to reason with what is obviously a computerized soundboard, even as it tells her things like "I want you to start living as a gay woman."

#11 - Most kids don't like going to school very much, but this 8 year old girl in Ireland takes it a step too far! In this call, she takes it upon herself to call a demolition company and ask them to demolish her school so she wont have to go anymore. The funniest part of the call is when she asks "can you make sure all my teachers are in there when you knock it down?" because after all, "they give me extra homework on the weekends and everything!"

#12 - Remember the Michael Jackson scandal when reporters and police flooded Neverland Ranch for answers a few years ago? During the investigation, Fox News Channel let someone on the air who claimed to be a police official with a serious comment on the matter. Hilariously, the "official" led them on for about a minute saying, matter of factly, that the only thing the police could reveal is that Michael Jackson "forced kids to watch the Howard Stern show and watch his movie, Private Parts."

#13 - This prank caller pwns a dating service, telling the phone rep to "set him up" while loudly crunching on an apple and crumpling a Doritos bag next to the phone receiver, burping into the phone and admitting to not owning his own automobile. When the dating rep tells him that he's "not the kind of person they're looking for", he starts crying!

#14 - The life of a phone support rep is frustrating because of calls just like this one, featuring an old man calling Wal-Mart demanding a refund for peanut butter that has salmonella food poisoning in it. Despite all the support rep's attempts to talk sense into the man, he declares that he's going "march on in there today, put it back on your counter, and you're gonna give me four dollars and ninety-nine cents." When the caller asks "how about if I just come over there and whoop your ass?", the call turns sour in a hurry!

#15 - This is another great prank call from the "belligerent customer" category, complete with screaming, swearing, and a flustered phone rep struggling to find the right words to reply with. If these calls haven't convinced you of how regularly customer service people get pwned, we're not sure what will!

#16 - For anyone whose ever impersonated the metrosexual man's voice, this prank call is for you! Listen as a caller using a Richard Simmons soundboard infuriates an ignorant redneck with chic one-liners like "My name is Cheryl. I believe I'm your daughter" and "don't you start with me!" One YouTube comment sums it up well, noting that "This is hurtfully brilliant. I've become addicted to this one. I listen to it endlessly."

#17 - CNN's Larry King is probably one of the most serious men on television, but that didn't stop him from becoming the target of this wickedly funny prank call! Turns out, the prank call was staged by the Don & Mike show, a competing broadcast who was trying to make a friendly jab at their televised colleague. Pretty funny!

#18 - The man in this prank call pretends to be legendary Van Halen frontman "Diamond" David Lee Roth, horassing a bouncer to let him into his club without paying and without being on the guest list. Despite the bouncer's protests ("man, I got things to do!") the DLR impersonator persists, offering cocky catchphrases like "no one hangs up on Diamond Dave!"

#19 - Utah is well-known for its high concentration of high-pressure, "boiler room" salesmen trying to push their products out onto the public. But while many Utah citizens have just learned to deal with it, this man decided to put a stop to it after Viagra salesmen had been horassing him week in and week out. On this recorded call, he refuses to answer any of the saleswoman's question, tells her to "hold on, my cat is attacking me", and finally demanding that that saleswoman supply him with "adderal, vikadin, eight beers, and chicks." Looks like that's one number the Utah salespeople will be scratching off their call again list!
